It was love at first sight when we met the 33 acre picturesque property we now fondly call Zig Zag Farm. After many years of dreaming of owning our own farm, in 2014 we realised our dream, purchasing the land with its sunny north-easterly aspect, gently sloping pastures, 1900’s homestead and olive grove.

The olive grove was planted 15 years ago and consists of 350 trees made up of two varieties of olives, Manzanillo and Frantoio. Our olive trees grow in the rich volcanic soil of the North West Coast of Tasmania and we have already produced award winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil. They also make a great place for family and friends to picnic (or work) in! We are virgins at the olive oil business (yes, pun intended!), and so the past year we have embraced the challenge, with a hands on approach and gaining as much experience as possible to benefit our olive grove. The olives were handpicked at the optimum time and were then cold pressed to obtain the highest quality of Extra Virgin Olive Oil of which we are immensely proud. Our olives receive only organic fertiliser. We have not used any chemicals (and don’t intend to).

Awards: 2016 National EVOO Champion – Class 3 Robust (Manzanillo) 2016 National EVOO Awards – Class 2 Medium Silver (Maree’s Medley) 2016 Hobart Fine Food Awards – Bronze (Frantoio)
