My passion and interest lies in residential design. It’s a very personal process as we get to know your clients so well. I love how great house spaces can add so much to the way our client lives.
Architecture, buildings and beautiful spaces are in my blood. My grandfather was a builder and when I was younger I’d often accompany him on site. My parents also built their own home, and I remember being enthralled with the whole process.
My greatest satisfaction comes from working on my client’s brief and not only satisfying it, but also adding to it – taking their ideas and transforming their home into something even beyond what they were hoping for.
I believe good design is a collaboration. Too many Architects have quite fixed ideas about what is best for a client. I think listening carefully to a client’s ideas throughout the creative design process is essential. I want to design a home that suits the way they live and contributes positively to their experience of living in that home.
I joined Skyring Architects in 2013 having worked as an Architect in Australia and the UK. My experience spans 18 years, and numerous Heritage, Commercial, Interior and Residential design projects. I particularly enjoy working on heritage and conservation buildings – retaining the beauty of a certain period, but also working in a modern interpretation.
Choosing the right aspect, making the most of views, creating energy efficiency and ensuring the best use of available space are important elements when designing a house. Equally important is my role in balancing great design, our client’s expectations and their budget. I gain great satisfaction when I pull all this together.
