Glendalough

The Outdoor Education Centre, Glendalough, on the Sunshine Coast can accommodate up to 100 people and is primarily used for year level camps, retreats and outdoor learning.

Location

Glendalough is surrounded by natural bushland featuring eucalyptus and wallum (heath lands) vegetation, on the doorstep of Lake Weyba, one of the large, shallow lakes of the region. A central area of lawns and landscaped gardens link the covered walkways between buildings. A well maintained oval is located along the eastern boundary. The wide open spaces offer the perfect location to enjoy endless outdoor activities.

Nearby, the climbs of Mt Coolum and Mt Peregian offer excellent hiking experiences, and the environmental walk at Stumer’s Creek Reserve gives an opportunity to observe nature at its best. There are numerous patrolled, safe, surfing beaches, within easy reach of the camp site.

Facilities

Glendalough is an ideal setting, available for camps and retreats by school, parish, church and community groups.

The property’s well-designed, multi-purpose hall is suitable for group activities and is AV equipped. The spacious dining hall with a large commercial kitchen comfortably seats over 100 guests.

The outdoor areas boast an oval, rock climbing wall, beach volleyball courts, low rope course, outdoor eating and picnic areas. The nearby Lake Weyba gives opportunities for water activities and adventures.

A full time on-site manager oversees the facilities.

Accommodation

The camp site offers four cabin style dormitories, each with twenty-six bunks. The dormitories have adjoining shower blocks. There are four staff units, each with two double bunks and an en-suite, in addition to a staff lounge. All bed linen including pillows and blankets, to be supplied by guests. The sick bay is attached to the staff units. Visitors need to provide first aid kits.

Dining and dietary needs

The large dining hall overlooks the landscaped gardens. All catering is provided by our catering contractors who specialise in serving fresh, healthy home style meals in the commercial kitchen. Please advise of any dietary needs or allergies and we will endeavour to provide alternate meals.

Getting there

Glendalough is situated near Lake Weyba, Sunshine Coast, less than two hours drive north of Brisbane. The site is accessed from the Sunshine Coast Motorway by turning right into Murdering Creek Road, just north of the Peregian roundabout, then first turn left into Monak Road which becomes Lakewood Drive. Glendalough is well signed on the right hand side.
